Midnight nostalgic

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — ingarygg @ 1:40 AM

Soo… it’s way too late, I’m supposed to get up and help my mom pick berries tomorrow, and yet here I am, 1 am and wide awake. Just like all my summer nights, haha. Love it! School starts in just a little more than a week, so I’m enjoying it while I can. Tomorrow we’re driving down to my aunt’s, and I don’t know how long I’ll be gone yet. My dad has to go back on Thursday, but me and my brother might stay a little longer. We’ll see :)

I just looked up a whole bunch of people from BG, and all of a sudden I got really nostalgic. I thought about all the stuff we’ve done together, everything I learned and all the fun I had. I miss you guys, you know!

I also looked at an old movie I got for my confirmation. It’s a whole bunch of videos of me from when I was like 4 to about 10. I was so cute when I was younger, but I had a really bad period stylewise from 9 to 14. Maybe 15. Might still be, but whatever. It used to be worse, haha. I might post it or send it to you sometime. And my baby pics too, for Lili!

So one of my goals with this blog is for you guys to actually learn something about Norway. I mean, it’s a lot different trying to explain stuff and actually showing it to you. The Norwegian summer is pretty awesome, everybody’s just enjoying the nice weather (while it lasts), going on vacations, having fun. The first part of it I thought I’d show you is the summer music. There’s just certain songs you have to play each year, plus whatever song is that years hit. So there you go:

These are two popular songs this year:

And some old classics (these are in Norwegian though, so I added some lyrics quickly and badly translated with google):

It was sunset
it was laughter, it was the song
it was summer vacation
it was the sea and the magic
It was you and it was me
it was the memories that will never die
it was forever
and a sun that painted the sky red

There was beer
intoxicating words
it was summer it was the sun
there were hearts on fire
quiet water, everything on this earth
And it was love
yes it was love
and memories that will never die
a sun that painted the sky red – Idyll

Summer was almost over
this was the last night
we lay on our backs, I felt safe
but still felt a little cold
We lay and watched the stars
and listened to the song from the birds
we both knew where it was going
and that we should never forget how it was

There was beer
intoxicating words
it was summer it was the sun
there were hearts on fire
quiet water, everything on this earth

And maybe one day we can be seen again
we start talking and you go home with me
as we see in time what happens
when we think back on memories and laughs

There was beer
intoxicating words
it was summer it was the sun
there were hearts on fire
quiet water, everything on this earth
And it was love
yes it was love
and memories will never die
a sun that painted the sky red – Idyll

Shoes in the warm sea, sun colored the sky red, the memories will never die – Idyll

There once was a summer
In nineteen hundred and ninety three
Where everything was as comfortable
And the world was discreet
During the day, you could read
Slowly in a book
In the evening we sat around a table
When a time comes
Next summer
Should I be here again
And we will sing
Old songs over again
When a time comes
Next summer
Should we again drink wine
And we will talk
About the same old thing
There once was a summer
In nineteen hundred and ninety three
How the world was safe
Along the Norwegian coast somewhere
On radio, there was a program
About summer food
We walk down and took a bath
When a time comes
Next summer
Should we be here again
And we will sing
Old songs over again
When a time comes
Next summer
Should we again drink wine
And we will talk
About the same old thing

And then a Swedish one:

Summer times
I know there is something going on
Summer times
Summer times
Come and stay out all night long
Summer times

Spinning around in a city that glow
who whispers: Be mine tonight …

Summer times
Hey, hey, summer times
Give me your hunger, give me your hand
Give me all you want and everything you can
Summer times
Hey, hey Summer times
Lips to lips that take me ashore
that provides summer times to each other

Summer times
Summer, summer, wet and hot
Summer times
Summer times
Come and play a summer game
Summer times

Live your life in a burning
attract: Stay tonight …

Summer times
Hey, hey, summer times
Give me your hunger, give me your hand
Give me all you want and everything you can
Summer times
Hey, hey Summer times
Lips to lips, two hearts on fire
that provides summer times to each other

You take me you take me you take me
you take me to another world …

Just ignore the horrible translations :p I’ll update with some more summer stuff later, now I’m off to bed! Good night : )

Hi guys!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — ingarygg @ 5:02 PM

So I’m just making a quick first post here. I’ve made this blog for you guys so we can still keep in touch, and so you can learn a little more about my Norwegian culture. Plus, I get to keep my English decent too. Hopefully you’ll have fun reading it and maybe learn a thing or two about Norway too : )

I just got back from Spain a few days ago, and since then I’ve only been chillin at home, doing laundry, cleaning, working out and watching TV. I’ll post som pictures and tell you a little more about Spain and the rest of my summer once I get up to my mom’s. We’ll go there tomorrow, after the showing of our house. In case I didn’t get around to tell you, my mom and stepdad are divorcing, so unfortunately we have to sell our beautiful house. I’m gonna miss it! But we’ll find something else, home is where the heart is, right?

I’m staying home this week, there’s this thing going on, kinda like Saturday Market in Portland. They have it here once a year and it’s a lot of fun. Next week I’m going to with my brother and dad to my aunt’s cabin, and then maybe to an amusement park in Sweden. School starts on August 19th, so that’s pretty much all I’ll have time for before everything’s back to normal.

Now I’m off to my best friend’s to have a taco night, fun! I’ll write some more later : )

Love ya!
